The closing date for applications this year is 12th February 2008. The date for auditions is 12th March 2008.
Judging the Entrants
Applications are first reviewed and discussed by the Award Committee.
Short listed candidates are then invited to an audition day. The award is judged on that day by the Award Committee together with a professional adjudicator.
For 2003 to 2005 the Adjudicator was Andrew Lumsden, Director of Music , Winchester Cathedral. He was succeeded in 2006 by the famous conductor, organist and music educator Sir David Willcocks. The adjudicator for 2007 was the outstanding musician and conductor, Stephen Layton , sometime Director of Music of the Temple Church and recently appointed Director of Music and Fellow of Trinity College Cambridge.
All the finalists are invited to star in the Music at Beaulieu Award Concert in Beaulieu Abbey Church, performing selected works of their choice. The Award is presented at this concert, which is usually a 'sell out'.
