The Music at Beaulieu Award is an annual musical competition for a substantial sum of money given to help a musician further his or her musical studies or career. These are the winners from the past few years:
2007 Samuel Shepherd - Cello
Now at the Royal Northern College of Music, 18 year-old Samuel will use the award to attend masterclasses and specialist courses to further enhance his studies.
2007 Alex Drouet-Lewis - Trumpet
2006 Lucy Cochrane - Clarinet
23 year-old Lucy used the award to help buy a new BFlat clarinet.
2005 Philip Handy - Cello
The third winner, Philip, was 21. He was able to buy a specialist bow for his 'cello.
2004 Ben Woodgates - Percussion
Ben won the award when he was 17. He used the award to buy a vibraphone.
2003 Anke Batty - Clarinet
Anke, our first winner, was aged 14. The award allowed her to take Master Classes and advanced tuition.
Admission
Admission prices vary from £5.00 to £18.00. Tickets may be booked in advance or bought at the door. Children are usually admitted free. Car parking in the large church meadow is free, and with prior warning, we can arrange assistance for the disabled. Modestly priced interval refreshments are available which usually include wine.
Programme
Our annual programme is distributed in January and some of the more popular concerts are quickly booked up.
However there are often cancellations and our box office is always happy to put you on the waiting list if a concert is fully booked.
Award
Each year Music at Beaulieu also offers a competitive award (currently £3,000) to assist a musician in the New Forest in his or her musical career.
