The upper picture is 2009 £3,000 award winner Tommy Andrews - a jazz saxophonist from Fordingbridge. The lower shot is Lymington percussionist Ben Clark who won the £1,000 award. Previous winners have included clarinetists, cellists and oboeists
Here's a note from Ben (pictured below) about his experience in the competition:
Hi, I'm Ben Clark and I entered the competition in 2008 not knowing what to expect. Little did I know that I would get to the finals and then be awarded £500 for “promising percussion skills”. All of the finalists were very talented and I got on extremely well with all of them. I felt at home and everyone in the committee was kind and helpful. I entered again this year and won £1,000. I highly recommend entering the Music at Beaulieu Award; you won’t find any competition as generous throughout the New Forest or Hampshire. It has helped many wonderful musicians get to where they need to be, and I proudly consider myself one. See you next year!!!!
The Awards are made possible by the Music at Beaulieu Trust and several generous sponsors.
