Although the Choral Scholars sing in the daily services in the chapel, which remain the choir’s raison d’être, Collegium Regale is independent of the choir and sings a different repertoire: sacred music from the 15th to the 20th century, madrigals, folk songs, part songs and, of course, close harmony for which the group is best known

Sam Newgarth conducts a twelve-piece orchestra, with two singers, in a programme of lighter music.
Sam Newgarth has been an orchestral conductor for forty years. He has conducted everything ranging from shows and light orchestras through to symphony orchestras, in America, in Italy, in London's West End and on radio and television.
Some of the orchestras that Sam has been involved with are: The New Philharmonic Orchestra (Principal Conductor), The Capetown Radio Orchestra (Guest Conductor) and The Soirée Musicale Ensemble (Principal Conductor).
He is currently Principal Conductor of The Bournemouth Philharmonic Society, which hefounded in 1976
