Following her success in the 2008 Music at Beaulieu Award, Isabel achieved her aim and was accepted to read for a Joint Honours Degree in Music and Italian at the University of Birmingham.
She plays Oboe and Cor Anglais with the University Symphony Orchestra and various chamber groups and sings in the Chamber Choir. She studies Oboe at the Birmingham Conservatoire with Jenni Phillips and Cor anglais with Anna Cooper.
Last year she auditioned for, and was accepted to play with the City of Birmingham Symphony Youth Orchestra. Amongst other works, she was privileged to play Shostakovich: Symphony No. 11 with Alan Buribayev and Vaughan Williams: Symphony No. 6 with John Wilson.
Currently in her third year, she is studying under the Erasmus Scheme at the University of Padua in Italy and is using the time to further her knowledge on the Baroque era with regards to performing.
Isabel has used some of her prize money to buy music and reed making kit. She is enormously grateful that her 'crock of gold' enables her to purchase the extremely expensive reeds that she finds help her performance.
